HIV Treatment in Hyderabad:

HIV is an acronym for Human Immunodeficiency Virus. It is a virus that attacks and deteriorates the immune system. This virus will reproduce by taking over the machinery of the human cell, but not by itself. HIV belongs to the Lentivirus subgroup of the Retroviridae family and is an RNA (ribonucleic Acid) virus responsible for weakening the human immune system. HIV was discovered by Luc Montagnier in 1983 in Paris and Robert Gallo in the USA in 1984. AIDS (Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome) is caused if HIV is not treated. The development of AIDS can take more than 8 to 10 years after the infection. It touches people of any age and sex. HIV infection is now manageable through proper medication.

Stages of HIV:

Acute HIV Infection:

Acute HIV infection is an illness which occurs in an individual in the very early stage of the virus, usually within 2 to 6 weeks. The infected person may have flu-like symptoms in this stage for a couple of days. This stage can also be called a window period because of the presence of high virus levels in the blood without the corresponding antibodies. In this period, the virus transmits from the infected person.

HIV-positive asymptomatic period

In this stage, the person is tested positive for HIV antibodies but does not show any symptoms. Generally, this stage lasts for around 3 to 5 years.

HIV-positive symptomatic period

In this stage, the infected person shows symptoms. This stage lasts for 2 to 3 years while dropping a resistant system.

AIDS stage

In this stage, the disease-fighting capacity is significantly decreased, and secondary infections arise. This stage usually occurs 5 to 10 years after the entry of the virus.
